Steady now. The county’s Index of Leading Economic Indicators showed no change in June, ending a consecutive five-month streak of decreases, it was reported Thursday.

University of San Diego professor Alan Gin stated that although the region’s economic outlook is not strong, it is not as negative as past forecasts have indicated. Positive indicators on last month’s index included a drop in initial claims for unemployment insurance and an increase in local stock prices. However, despite these slight improvements, Gin reported decreases in consumer confidence, building permits and local help-wanted advertising.
